FTM- Middle name advise

I am a first time mom, and my husband and I will be having our first child in June. Before we found out that we were parents, we always hypothetically talked about names for our future kids. When I said “If we end up having a girl, I’d like her to have my middle name”. My husband agreed, and said “okay well then if it’s a boy, he gets my middle name”. ....my husband doesn’t have a middle name lol. At the time, I agreed, because the idea of me birthing a son seemed impossible, because my family is notorious for having girls.Well here we are, 6 months in, and we are having a son! I’m elated as could be!!! But now we have people asking us what we will be naming him, and just telling them his first name and last name feels weird. We always get the response “NO MIDDLE NAME??!! Well don’t YOU want a middle name?!! Well then convince him!!!!” I’ve tried convincing him with arguments such as “not having a middle name isn’t usual! Ever since I was younger I always imagined having a kid and seeing what that first name sounded good with. And middle names are good for naming them after someone in your family!” He sees it simply as “well my brother and I don’t have middle names, we turned out fine. Middle names are just something to add to the name when you’re yelling at your kid. They’re basically useless! If he wants a middle name, he can legally change that when he is older. Otherwise, he will just be made fun of for his middle name!”Although he makes valid points, I just can’t grasp the idea of having a child without a middle name...it feels wrong and that I’ll never love the child’s name enough.I’m hoping this doesn’t come off harsh to those who don’t have a middle name :( I am just having trouble adjusting to what could possibly happen :(TLDR: FTM agreed to not give her son a middle name, and now I am regretting that and would like some perspective on the pro’s and con’s of middle names.Thanks y’all!! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2E6fDQH
