Preschooler eats and eats. He doesn't seem to know when to stop eating?

My son doesn't seem to stop eating. He doesn't have a 'stop-when-full' type feeling. He's only 3.5-4 years old! With certain meals he can wolf down the same amount as my 6'7" husband!I grew up with terrible eating habits because my parents weren't really the type to encourage veggies and such. As long as I ate, then terrific! But I grew up with multiple eating disorders I've hid my whole life, and now I'm working my way down from obesity.(Side Note: Both my son and my husband are in healthy weight ranges and there isn't a concern for any weight related issues for my son right now. )I'm concerned about limiting intake because I don't want to make food a forbidden fruit (lol). We eat a mainly plant-based diet, so he's not eating insane amounts of junk, but its still setting off alarms in my head. For reference, I made small/medium sized pancakes for him and his same aged friend this morning and he ate 4 small pancakes I gave him, plus, she let him eat all the rest of her pancakes because she only wanted one or two of them. Then he cried because he wanted more. I gave him water and some apple, but he had eaten all of them pancakes (other than the ones I ate myself.)He's in the 98-100th percentile for his height so maybe he's just perpetually in in a growth spurt? I don't want him to grow up not understanding when he's full or how to stop eating (those were my issues. Binge Eating disorder and bulimia have plagued me my whole life.)Anyone struggled with this before? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2vouF34
