Can a school cut speech services if the issue is significant but doesn't affect educational performance?

My secomd grade son has an IEP for a speech and language disorder. He gets pulled out twice a week for speech services. He struggles with the letter "r" and often changes it to a w if it's in the beginning or middle of a word (race is wace, rice is wice) or drops it at the end of the word (car is more like ca). It's very noticeable but doesn't affect him in the classroom. He's at grade level in reading and above grade level in math. He doesn't complain of any bullying issues in the classroom or outside. I asked his teachers and coaches to be on the lookout but none of them have seen anything yet. He has a lot of friends and is always asking for sleepovers. I haven't noticed any teasing either.My concern is that his articulation isn't going to get better without services. I dont want him going to college still saying that he wants some wice with his steak. Bullying isnt an issue now but it could be as he gets older. Do I have to sit here and hope that it corrects itself? Can I fight to keep his IEP and service even though it doesn't affect him in the classroom? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2HR6ayc
