How many more people have to get sick or die before this school decides to close?!

The last three days in my local school system have seen record numbers of absences for flu with hundreds of positive tests per day being confirmed. Today, a member of the system’s custodial staff died from the flu. And it turns out she worked a full TWO WEEKS while sick because admin doesn’t give them enough sick days! Custodians touch everything! Flu spreads by contact with contaminated surfaces. Our idiot superintendent (our school board has no elected positions anymore, she was appointed by the county) says schools will stay open as long as there is enough staffing to make it happen. How dumb can this lady be?! At what point does the school start to fear liability for flu related medical costs and deaths?! They won’t close, and they won’t excuse absences unless the student is already sick at which point they have already been spreading the illness.Oh, but if it even is FORECASTED to snow 1/4 inch, school is called off immediately! We used five of our ten allotted snow days in one week without ever seeing a flurry. Clearly the possible cost of bus repairs due to the incompetent local bus drivers (while other rant that I have even sent to lawmakers after complaints were refused to be taken) is more concerning than possible student death in this shithole county! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2FBh6gP
