Met my wife, who is an elementary teacher at my son’s school, for lunch today and she casually brought up that the school was on high alert today. When I asked her for specifics, she said a former student had threatened (death) another student attending the school. Especially with the recent tragedy, I just couldn’t help but get upset and told her I would take our son home for the day.Only the school staff was notified; none of the parents. My wife said the school had these types of threats all the time (the school demographic consists of mostly low income families). When I went to the school there were a few police cars parked along the permiter of the school. My wife also mentioned that there was only one entrance that wasn’t locked today. That single entrance requires the main office to buzz you in. But while waiting for my son in the main office, I noticed the staff buzzing in any parents without any communication. My sister and parents think I’m overreacting. Wondering what this sub thinks. This is the first time I’ve ever pulled out my son from school from such an incident. His safety is by far my biggest concern. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2FjlNwX
