How can we make a great back yard for our almost 2-year-old little girl?

We recently moved to a new house. We have a nice big, fenced back yard, but it's pretty bare. We have her little single-seat swing and I hope to plant a satsuma tree in the spring. Nora will be two in May. I want to create a great play space for her, but I'm uncertain where to start. She loves to be outside, especially when she can run free. I don't feel like buying a ton of big, plastic Fisher Price climbing toys is necessarily the way I want to go, especially considering how hot it gets here in south Louisiana, and how it would likely burn little legs that are wearing shorts to slide down hot plastic.She's a smart and curious little thing, so I want to provide creative play things and opportunities. I just don't know what that looks like! Things that can easily be found second-hand would be an even greater bonus, but aren't a must.
