Quarantine on Toddlers: My son gets no kid socialization. How serious is the harm?

Not going outside is already bad enough, but for my 2 year old son, no socializing sounds horrific for his development. Then thinking we are looking at one, two, possibly three years till a vaccine is created and distributed until life returns to “normal”.He plays with us A LOT, but I assume it’s different for developing.I feel this is a doomed aspect for my son.Thankfully we will have a new born this month to join the family, but not going to be a play buddy anytime soon. What are your thoughts or knowledge on the thought? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2SbAqKm

What Are We Supposed to Do All Day?

I work from home and have a 12 week old. I love her to bits, but I am used to being a workaholic. How much time am I supposed to spend entertaining her? Is it bad to leave her in her donut and just stare around? I get how to keep her alive, but its the day to day mechanics of what the hell am I supposed to do and am I being a good mom?Edit: Right now, any moment she is awake, I am with her, finding things to do. But she's not yet on a consistent schedule (working on this, hence the questions). I'm trying to squeeze everything in while she sleeps, but at some point, I'm going to break. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2SsgzXF

Getting child to stop breastfeeding

My daughter turned 4 at the end of March and she won't stop nursing. She nurses at night, when she wakes up in the morning, and anytime she gets next to me in our house (which there's been a lot of the past month and a half). I have tried telling her to stop, but she refuses. I typically just get up when she starts to do it , but it's hard when we're lying in bed at night. My husband is at the point of angry and it causes fights. He thinks it should have stopped a while ago. the dentist lectured him the last time he went with her saying it could cause tooth damage. He will ask to smell her breath any time i've been alone with her and he just screamed bloody murder at me over this. I dont know what to do. I want her to stop but i also don't think it's getting as mad as he is over it. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3aEixKx

If you're still stressing about being at home with your kids..

I've seen a lot of posts lately about parents stressing over how to handle their kids at home lately. Being a parent of three myself, I found the following video helpful. Especially when first staying at home. I thought it would be easier to post here then keep responding to people's individual posts: https://youtu.be/urrkn7WFREc via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2VXXayy

Is less sleep normal?

My son is 2yrs 9months. He used to sleep 7:20 PM until about 6:30 AM while still taking a 2 hour nap at daycare and on the weekends. Since we have been home with him, he now screams like crazy when we try to leave the room at bedtime and doesn't end up going to sleep until 8:30 or 9:15 PM. He then wakes up at 5:30 AM. He does still sleep around 2 hours for nap. Is less sleep at this age normal? I don't know if he is just off schedule because of us working from home and daycare being closed or is this is the new normal. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2ScYuMR

Suddenly, the roles have been reversed.

I went back to work 12 days after I gave birth to my son. My husband stayed home, and we thought this was for the better. I didn’t think I could ever just “sit at home all day”.Boy, was I wrong. About all of it.He found a job he could work with his disability and here I am, at home with my baby. Holy moly, it’s the hardest work I’ve ever done (and that’s saying something, I’ve done all kinds of hard labor). But at the same time, it’s awesome. I get so much done, the laundry is folded, there’s lunch packed for my husband, I have enough time to nurse my son as long as he wants, the dishes are done, and I got a shower. Why did I not do this before??? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2S9Fkrc

My daughter is a bit overweight and I need some advice or links to resources so that I can

After a visit to my daughter's pediatrician we have found that she is a bit overweight. This wasn't a huge shock as I have noticed a change but due to her height I had put it down to her body getting ready for another growth spurt, she is 9 but the height of an average 11 year old.I cant seem to find any resources that give clear answers as to how much a child should be eating calorie wise and I am wondering if anyone has any advice or links that might help me help my daughter? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2W7Xhb4
