I feel like I'm parenting 2 only children

My kids are 2 years apart, 10 and 12. My younger son has had a host of medical problems and most recently received an autism diagnosis. My kids can never play together without driving each other, and us, crazy. It's more than traditional sibling bickering. They have managed to get along like 3 times that I can remember. I realized that it feels so exhausting because when they need play time, they can't play together, we need to play with them, so it's like having two only children. Sheesh. :/ via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2yky6d1

Life hack: Getting an infant to stay asleep.

My 1 month old falls asleep in my arms and wakes up when I put her to bed. Last night I thought I’d try making the transition a little easier by warming her mattress first. OMG! What a difference! She stayed asleep and slept for 5 hours! I just put a heating pad on medium heat for 15 minutes and moved it right before putting her down. She’s a stomach sleeper so having her face touch the cool sheets would wake her up. This fixed that problem. I’m now trying to fall back to sleep because she went right back down after her early morning feeding.I know this isn’t a cure all, but I hope it helps some of you who are having a hard time getting those little ones to sleep and stay asleep. One last thing...I don’t want to have to say it but please don’t put the baby ON the heating pad. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2JrwEb8

If you didn’t have kids, how would you be spending lockdown?!

I’ve always wanted to learn sign language and was thinking lockdown would be a great time to do it...if I didn’t have kids! Just wondering what others would be doing if they didn’t have kids to look after! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2ULIp1d

I am just flat overwhelmed.

My wife and I got home tonight with our first child. We both are so scared and feel so overwhelmed with what is in front of us. I honestly don’t know if I can handle this and it terrifies me.I feel like I am supposed to be head over heels with my son... I think he’s cute but I don’t feel the bond that people say they have immediately. I just don’t get it.I am so scared that I am going to not just fail, but hate my life. I feel like the worst parent ever and I’m just getting started. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2QTyjKH

How to set up an iphone for an 8 year old

My sister has given my niece an iphone and there aren't any restrictions on it. I've set up screen time and know how to limit websites as I do that for my own productivity. I've removed the ability for her to add contacts as well, so I was wondering if there was some way on screen time or some other app we could use that would prevent her from texting anyone that isn't a contact.Thank you so much for the advice. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2QVOKG6

Crafts with LO make me crazy

Does anyone else get serious OCD when trying to do crafts or project with LO? Mixing all the colors to brown or gray mush? Painting or coloring so hard the page rips? Just tried to make bracelets with 3 yr old and she just wanted to use the jewels as pinto beans and fry them up on her "stove". I know I should just let her play but I end up telling her she's wasting our stickers. (They easily lose stickiness) Then immediately feel like a shitty mom. Stupid but I'm hung up on it. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2xBynHS
