Update from last night's post

Here's the original post: https://ift.tt/2GfZsnx just left, there's an open investigation on my exs wife for abusing my 5 year old. A couple weeks ago he showed up to school with a black eye and told his teacher she hit him, my ex later tried to cover it up by saying hes been lying and he hit his head on a dresser (no, you dead beat POS, you let her hit him) and since then there's been a report of her picking him up and slamming him to the ground.I'm going to be sick to my stomach. I have one million emotions surging through my body right now. I called my lawyer immediately, I'm waiting to hear back, but now there's going to be a open I investigation on them for awhile.I hope, with every fiber in my body, that I can get full custody of my children and get them away from them. I will not be stopped until my children are safe and away from them for good. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2utEmwK

Help me feel better! Lost track of time and didn't leave work in time for childcare pickup

Gah you guys! I am mainly posting because I'm too embarrassed to tell my other mum friends, and I'm hoping some of you will have stories to help me feel better! My boy is 2 and goes to nursery 3 days a week. Me and my partner both work part time, and our arrangement on the days we both work are that he does nursery drop off and I do pickup. I need to leave work by 4.30 to pick my son up at 5.15.Today, I don't even know what happened but I looked at the clock and realised it was 4.55 and I was still sat at my desk! The worst thing was I wasn't even doing anything that important, just trying to clear my inbox a bit before leaving for the day. I know I looked at the clock several times between 4.30 and 4.55 and I somehow just didn't click that I really should have left already. Gaaah!Ultimately it's all fine. My sister, who my son adores, is picking him up, and I'll be home to make his dinner, but I just feel like the WORST.My mum tried to cheer me up by telling me about when she left my sister in her pram in the supermarket. Please tell me it's not just my family that does this to their children!! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2E3ljc2

How do moms (and dads) do it?

I am in my 30s, just had my first child. She is 6 months and I love her to death. I am also a researcher (I have a PhD) and I work at a children's hospital. I am very ambitious and used to handling a lot of things, having a lot on my plate. But man, my 6 month old is really demanding attention and is cranky a lot of the time. So I find myself thinking and running out of ways to entertain her. This is exhausting and I can't get anything done. My house is a mess, my hair hasn't been combed in forever, I have stains on my clothes. Basically, I do not belong in society anymore! I wonder, how do you moms do it? How do you get things done, especially those who have more than one kid! Share your wisdom! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2GeutZf

New-ish dad here. I’m fairly certain my 3 month old daughter hates me now.

DISCLAIMER: I apologize in advance because I expect this post will be a little dark, and more than a little rambling. I’m at the end of my rope here. If you have any judgments or negativity in response to this please keep them to yourself, because I have enough of that to go around. We had our baby girl Dec 29th. It’s been an amazing experience, at least until the last couple weeks.I’m a stay at home dad now. It just made sense given that she has much more earning potential than I do. Also, I was hesitant to sell the internal organs necessary to afford child care in my area. The strange part is that I expected this kind of reaction from our baby when my wife went back to work. This wasn’t the case. We had two excellent weeks together, minus a short adjustment period the first couple days. Everything was going great. She was eating, napping, and happy as could be. Or so it seemed.Starting last week, it feels like I can’t do anything right for our little girl. She simply will not sleep unless completely, utterly exhausted. Then, once she’s enormously tired, she tries to reject the bottle more often than not. She no longer likes to be held by me. She no longer likes the pacifier. Things she used to enjoy make her cry now. She only fusses and screams. When she’s not screaming, she’s fussing.I’ve tried literally everything I know and nothing works. She’s taken Gerber baby probiotic (a miracle) drops for weeks ever since she had a brief colicky period. I’ve tried everything else at my disposal to get her to sleep, outside of some crazy store bought gadgets. I’ve even-tried-some-too.Yesterday, it took me four hours to get her to go down for a 45 minute nap. She used to nap for 1-3 hours only 2 weeks ago. This all stops completely once my wife’s home, by the way. She sleeps through the night with some sleep-nursing. We had none of these issues over the weekend when my wife was home all day.I don’t know where else to go with this, but I just don’t have any other outlet for these thoughts and feelings. When I talk to my wife about this it just seems to upset her. I guess I just needed something constructive to do so I could stop thinking about horrible, self destructive thoughts. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2E5VBUs

5 yo daughter sleepwalking (humor)

About an hour after she went to sleep I catch her wake up and pull down her pants in the hallway. She decided that she would pee right there. Not wanting to wake or startle her, we let it happen and whisked her back to bed. She refused to get dressed so she went to bed with no underwear.Morning came and she woke up, put on underwear and proceeded to act normal. She then says, “daddy can I tell you a secret? I lost my underwear last night.” I didn’t laugh but oh it was a humorous moment. Not wanting her to feel embarrassed, I said no big deal, and eventually talked to her about not making it to the bathroom last night, and she was very tired she may not remember it.And that’s how she acts when she thinks she has lost her underwear overnight! Glad I could give her a logical explanation in the end. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2pM0xbV

Those moments that make it all worth it

Long time lurker, first time poster. My son is seven weeks old and gave me his first smile on Saturday but nothing since then. Tonight, I was in the middle of a rare night of sleep since my husband has a night off his overnight job and is taking care of the baby, and I woke up from a crappy dream and walked out to get some family love before going back to bed. My husband was holding baby and as soon as he realized I was there, he leaned towards me wanting to be handed off. And then he BEAMED at me, repeatedly and hugely, and started making little happy noises. He was SO excited to see me. Being a mom is the hardest thing I've ever done, but I'll be damned if it isn't the most rewarding, too. What are some of your "this is all so worth it" moments/stories? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2pRfwRZ
