I start the day changing their beds so they have nice fresh bedsheets when they (finally) go to bed. We go for a walk for a couple of hours in the afternoon to try to wear them out and by the time we get home Santa’s elves have left new pjs wrapped in their rooms. We then have a treasure hunt (final destination a heart shaped cardboard box I covered in glue and glitter many years ago and now not so covered in glue and glitter but will have a small chocolate inside). Then a Christmas movie before bed. I am not the best mum in the world by a long shot but in many ways I prefer Christmas Eve (my 2 are 12 and 8 btw). It’s so much easier! And expectations are so much lower! Be interested if anyone else has similar rituals / enjoys this day more than the ‘real thing’? via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2Adv2xw
