Christmas without Hand Foot and Mouth

My brother and his family decided to bring his kid (my 1 year old nephew) to Christmas dinner even though he had hand, foot, and mouth virus. None of us knew about it up until he showed up as he said "Charlie (not real name) has a little hand, foot, and mouth. You probably don't want to get close and we'll try to keep our distance tonight."So I asked him why don't they just go home if Charlie is sick, and he said they didn't want to miss the festivities and "they'd be careful".Not wanting to infect my kid and ruin our winter vacation plans, our family left Christmas dinner before it even got started. There were still about a dozen other family members and extended family remaining when we left. Was I out of line asking them to leave? Could I have handled this better? No one else in the group outside my family seemed to care, but we were the only group with kids with us, outside my brother who brought his sick kid. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2GDS7Pt
