As a semi-regular ritual, my 3yo and I go on an adventure before bed to have dessert at Dunkin Donuts. On our way home (it's like a 3 minute drive), I peeked back after saying something and she was just staring off in the distance. Exhausted, I thought, we were at the park for 4 hours today.We get home. I open her door. I say something like the usual "Alright kiddo, let's get inside." She stares. No response. I grabbed her carseat buckle to loosen it and get her out, and she turns her head to me and suddenly gets this horrified look on her face. Like pure, absolute terror, seconds away from bursting into tears.She fell asleep with her eyes open. She described it by saying that she was scared because everything was really dark when she woke up. It was getting late, but not dark by any measure. The combination of how she stared off like a robot and the sudden expression change just shook me up and I'm still a little freaked out about it. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2FylGvW
