I get it. It’s boring at their house. All you get to do is eat snacks that grandma buys specifically for you, look at YouTube videos on your phone, or watch cable TV upstairs or downstairs.Guess what? It’s Christmas Eve. You’re going. You’re going to visit the only set of grandparents you have that have been to every birthday, every choir performance, and every soccer game. The only grandparents that take you out to eat “just because”. The only set of grandparents who show up with celery and oranges because you told them we always run out before you get your fill. They haven’t molested you. They haven’t abused you emotionally, physically, or verbally. You don’t have to be happy about it. But acting like you have to pull a 14 hour overnight shift on two hours of sleep because you’re spending 3 hours with your grandparents is a bit over the top. You’re getting fed delicious food and getting a present.FWIW I don’t make them visit their grandparents. I visit them weekly and usually the teens come up with me maybe once a month.I feel better now. Thanks for the rant. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2BL62jV
