10 days ago my youngest underwent a 7 hour surgery. His recovery was going great. Discharged from hospital on 19th. We eased into Christmas eve. I was so happy we all (2 kids and husband) got to go to Christmas Eve service at church. The 5pm edition I am not quite crazy enough to take small children to the midnight service. We came home jolly. My husband put the youngest to bed only to discover a small amount of blood in his diaper. Not a total freak out in light of his surgery. We decided to see how the next diaper was. Spoiler alert there was a little more in the next diaper and after trying to reach someone associated with the actual treatment to ask if we should be worried (shockingy we couldn’t) I dragged a 1 year old to the ER at 11pm on Christmas eve. Four hours later of mostly waiting we were sent back home and told it was normal in light of surgery. I flop into bed. Next I am woken up by my husband advising the oldest (age 6) is awake. Almost immediately I hear crying. Apparently the 6 year old had puked in the night but didn’t want to come tell us. (He had an allergic reaction over the summer that included puking so it seems he was worried he’d have to go to the ER ) My sweet husband cleans everything up. The 6 year old seems perky and fine aside from previously puking. I suspect it could be too much junk food and excitement (only time will tell if it was a flu that the rest of us will catch). After puke clean up we open presents and eat breakfast. You know what though? It was still an amazing Christmas. I could have done without the ER trip and puke BUT I have loved being with my little family. The kids were adorable this morning. I loved singing Silent Night at church. Life with kids is freaking chaos but it is still beautiful.Happy Holidays. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2DMZuhR
