I had recently posted about being conditioned to fear CPS, and why they're actually there to help (tl;dr at the bottom). Recently, another incident came up that I feel is important to share. My husband was trying to switch the kids to his insurance policy. He couldn't put in an application for them until their old insurance ran out. For whatever reason, and this happens often, the paperwork was overlooked, the application never put in. It's recently being fixed, but the kids still aren't covered. The baby has developed a fatty cyst on his eyelid. I was still afraid to tell my social worker about them not having insurance, but worrying about getting that cyst removed, I told my social worker about it anyways. She gave me a clinic to take him to for the referral, and the agency is going to cover the cost for that appointment, and for the specialist that will remove the cyst if need be.They didn't take my children away for the insurance mishap, and gave me a week to bring him in because we're actually moving into our new house today. They can even take us to the appointments. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2yrJPpp
