Most of my sons classmates are obese, also both his teachers. He's starting to ask questions about why other people are so big. I'm afraid if I don't answer carefully he's going to offend someone.

Hes in Pre-K. He repeats everything he "learns" from me and Mom. I'm afraid if I tell him that eating too much and not getting enough exercise will make people big like that, and it's unhealthy, he'll go blabbing that to all of his classmates and teachers. What am I supposed to tell him when everyone around him, even other 4 year olds are obese.I'm so sorry if this seems insensitive. I don't know how to handle this. We live in the Bible belt and everyone here is obese and they all smoke at the playground and he's seeing all this unhealthy stuff around him and he's very very curious about everything and has no shame about asking questions.I've tried telling him people come in all different shapes and sizes and colors and that's what makes us all so interesting and fun, but I feel like its really important to stress good diets and exercise at a young age, and I'm not being honest with him about why some people are so big.How do I answer his questions about this stuff, knowing he may repeat what I tell him to his friends and teachers? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2A5hPHA
