Preface since I deleted original post: Mike is my husband's friend's son and the two previous summers he was often at our house sleeping over complaining of boredom and food choices. Mike's dad has three OVIs and no money for extras and pawned him on us often.Wow, what a difference a year makes!Took advice from you and I explained to Mike out family's situation with my ailing mom and limited funds. Explained I needed help with chores esp if we're doing XYZ.He cleans up after himself. He doesn't whine that we aren't going anywhere. He makes his own food. He helps me with my little one. He helps with our new puppy. I like this kid!Mike's dad recently drove his car on a suspended OVI so he might serve jail time while his son is still here. He has another court date in August for not showing up for a criminal damaging charge. His dad is still messing up. Dad thinks the System is out to see him fail. No personal accountability at all. I'm beyond pissed.Mike told me that he might be living permanently here but once again, his dad's poor decisions might prevent him from getting full custody.
