Husband lost his job while daughter (14y) away at camp. She returns Friday. How do we break the news?

My husband (60y) has just been let go from his job of 11y. He was employed with our local government as their Chief Information Office. We are comfortable and will be fine, but our daughter will be angry, scared and confused.His commute was 5 minutes which was very beneficial for her. We don't anticipate changes to her extra curricular activities as we do have savings, he was offered a severance package and I have a good job. But, there will certainly be cut backs.
