Kids Movie Recommendation: Song of the Sea

My kids watch a lot of the same Pixar/Disney stuff over and over. I have a tough time finding things outside of that milieu that isn't too dumb or hyper. But our babysitter told us about Song of the Sea, which is an Irish animated film that I can't recommend highly enough. It was nominated for an Oscar in 2015, and it's available with Amazon Prime. (No, check my history. I'm not a shill.)When I need my energetic boys to chill out, I sometimes put on Song of the Sea. It's completely unlike all the bang/zoom/quick edit stuff that they usually consume. The movie is quiet, and engaging, and musical, and sweet, and tells of legends and lore that my kids weren't familiar with before they watched this film. It has Brendan Gleeson (Mad Eye Moody) as the father, and the kids sound like a real brother and sister who don't always get along, but love each other. Please let me know if you have recommendations for other quality storytelling for kids that is on the more low-key side. My kids are 5 and 2. But if you haven't seen this film, definitely check it out. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2ux1clA
