I grew up in a small town, but am raising kids in a million+ city and struggling. Can anyone who has made this transition give advice?

Like the title says. I grew up in a beautiful small town of about 3,000, and now live in a major city of over a million. The friends I have here are all from the city, and grew up here, so it's like they speak a language I don't know.I struggle because the way I grew up we walked everywhere, we knew almost everyone, it was safe and free and unstructured. Where I live now (suburbs) everything is so vehcile reliant. We are lucky enough to be able to walk to and from school, but that's it.All of my kids friends are so BUSY! The kids have language lessons, sports, extra academics, ect, all of which the parents drive them to. We have a local park that is beautiful, but always empty because no one is around. When we do meet up with friends, I feel there is a pressure because it's a "playdate." My parents just left us to find friends and work with what we had. I can honestly say that growing up a small town, I never had any friends that had a full schedule, but that's how the kids here are like.Has anyone been through this? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2tvydKG
