At what age would it be okay to show my little one a video game?

I don't mean to have her actually play it. My wife and I like the Elder Scrolls series and with the older one, when she was little (probably 3 or 4), we would play Morrowind or Oblivion with her sitting there directing the gameplay, like a "make your own ending" type story. She really enjoyed this. Does anyone else do this, and at what age did you find your little ones were able to participate?
