[advice] My kid refuses to get off the potty, and he's holding it. Yesterday he held it all day.

We started the process of potty training our kid yesterday. He held it all day BUT also refused to get off the potty. It got to the point that I had to put out a timer that he wasn't allowed to be on the potty. He's 3 years old. We attempted to train him around this time last year but none of us were ready. A few months ago I tried to reintroduce the potty and he freaked out -- like to the point that I thought maybe something had happened at daycare.I used training pants to at least get him used to pulling up and pushing down his pants and underwear until I got him comfortable sitting on the potty again.And so here we are ... day 2 and he's sitting on the potty refusing to go but also refusing to leave the potty.
