My 15 year old son was born with a heart defect. For most of his life, he was able to manage it with medication. His condition got worse towards the end of last year and we essentially lived at the hospital for a while. His doctor recommend that he sit out of sports for at least one year and then they will reevaluate at the year mark.My son is really having trouble with the fact that he will not be able to play baseball this spring. Tryouts are right around the corner and it is hitting him pretty hard. Most of his friends (and his brother) are on the team, which makes things a little harder. He can't really avoid it. Most of the boys are going out to batting practice to get ready for the season, so he has been upset about that lately. He is in therapy (as recommended by his doctor), but I was hoping there was something I can do to help. If there is a better sub for parents in similar situations, I would love if you could point me there. I know this isn't a super common occurrence. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2jvuNmP
