We have two kids: 3.5 and 1.5. A while back my wife suggested that when we need them to leave activities that they really love (like when getting out of the bathtub or putting a toy away), we demonstrate saying goodbye to the things they're leaving. Example:"Time to get out of the bath. Say 'goodbye bathtub, goodbye water, goodbye toys'."I do that while I'm picking them up and drying them off; it seems like a great way to redirect their little brains and, for us, has cut related tantrums down significantly. Obviously nothing works 100% of the time but a few minutes warning plus goodbyes works enough that I thought it might help somebody else. Plus it's extra cute when your toddler adds, "see you next time!" via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2kvaoyA
