How can I help my 5 year old appreciate his gifts this year?

I have a great son who is five. He is sensitive to others and loves to please... except when he's opening gifts. I've noticed in the last couple years he's gotten hyper focused on the act of ripping into presents, but doesn't stop to take in what he has received. He is so intent on the next one that he just plows through and even seems a bit greedy ("Are there more?").I've had a few discussions with him leading up to Christmas about appreciating the thought people put into gifts, asking him to think about what gifts he'd like to get for others. But he still seems very focused on getting. He even asked a friend of ours if she brought him a present when she visited us the other night. How embarrassing.Any advice from those who've been through something similar? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2hA17nT
