Reducing parent triggers around disrespect and letting some things go.

I'm the parent of a child we adopted when older. Much has gone well, but I've found I have some deep triggers around disrespect. The result is I tend to be more sensitive than is useful and react in ways that escalate situations. Things like a sigh, eyeroll, comment under the breath move me from being in conflict to feeling a need to win and teach the big lesson right then and there. It rarely works well this way. What did others do to get a bit more chill? Our child is 13 and has had a very tough life. My reacting to every blip is not helping. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2ivAHaH
