About a month ago, I wrote a post about hoenmy father in law was hurt that he wasn't invited to Thanksgiving because we thought he had plans and it would have been awkward because he and my mother in law don't get along. Well, we decided to have everyone over for Christmas Eve. I was worried. I won't lie. My mother in law's idea of civil usually makes everyone uncomfortable.I will say that I am pleasantly surprised. Everyone was happy to be here and kind to each other. There were no squabbles or hints of tension. Everyone was happy tonhave good food and play with the kids. It was really great. There were no awkward, uncomfortable moments. It was a pleasant evening. I don't know if it was a Christmas miracle or that everyone realized they had to grow, but I will take it. It was really great. The kids had a blast and they got to spend time with their grandparents.
