How did you know you were done having kids?

My husband and I have two children already, a 5 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. I feel like our family isn't complete and desperately want one more child. My husband on the other hand is done having children and isn't open to the idea of discussing it any further. He wants to have a vasectomy and part of me just wants him to so we don't have to argue or fight about it anymore. The other part is scared that I am going to have resentment issues that he "didn't let" me have another child. I just don't want to look back years from now and regret not having a third.
