I've recently become influential in a 16 year old's life [relationship with her father] and need some assistance. I'm slowly becoming a parental figure over time so it happens naturally. Her father and I are concerned about her attitude and exposure. She lives far awya from us so only visits on holidays. She lives in a very bogan [Australian version of redneck] town and her primary parenting examples/social circles are very narrow, small-minded and overwhelmingly racist. She has picked up many of these ideas [anti-Islam, Indigenous people as drunk and lazy etc]. She also suffers from low self esteem. How do we assist her to overcome these views and become more educated and 'cultured' - for want of a better word? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/29cHa2R
