Parents of Reddit: Wife is treating baby like a vampire. (NO SUN!!!!) Newborns and The Sun, How much is too much?

Just a few minutes ago I went outside with our new born, (2wk) after changing his diaper. The bottom portion of his leg (about the knee down) was in the sun with the rest of him in the shade. This lasted for approximately 1.5 minutes maybe 2 before my wife rushed outside shouting "You can't put him in the sun! He's gonna burn! Get him out of the sun!!" Like in a serious panic!I told her it had only been for a minute and she insisted that it doesn't matter, and that he would burn basically instantly.I can't find any answers via the googles so figured I'd ask the parents of Reddit:Is sun okay in any amount for a baby this young?How long does it take for an average Caucasian baby to burn?Not just looking for an "IM RIGHT!!!" circle-jerk here. Don't want to put my child in harm's way because of ignorance.
