My DS is 2.5 and has two versions of tantrum. Option 1 is just rage and flail. Option 2, my favourite, is lie down face first on the floor in protest. He whines a little and eventually does a reverse snow angel on the ground. It takes all of me not to giggle at him in the moment.We sometimes also rage fart.
