Low Blood Pressure and Hot Showers

My 11 year old daughter collapsed in the shower yesterday. It’s the second time in just over a year.We called 911, and she was rushed to the hospital, and for the second time I felt like a helpless parent. After the first time, they really couldn’t tell us much. They found no signs of anything through all the scans and blood work. At the time they simply checked it off as a simple case of fainting. This time, same thing. All the tests came back normal, but this doctor felt very strongly that the cause was based on her age, blood pressure at the time, and the heat in the bathroom from her extremely hot shower. She woke up at 6am, and was in a hot shower by 6:20. The doctor said that some young females will have lower blood pressure in the morning, and that getting in the hot shower was the worst thing she could do, because it caused her blood cells to expand and get heavy, causing a lack of flow up to the brain. So she collapsed.Other than a baseball size bump on her forehead, she’s okay and totally fine. Doesn’t remember anything other than being in the shower and then waking up from an nap but being in the ambulance.Have any other parents had this experience, or advice on fainting in the shower? The doctor said it was common, so I’m hoping we are on the right track in identifying the cause. For now, she’s not taking early showers and keeping the temperature cooler. Thanks for reading! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2KamIBp
