I don't know if its the neighborhood im in or what. When i visit my relatives neighborhood i never had a bad experience in their parks or schools. Kids are respectful. But is it because i live in a poorer neighborhood? I dont know...But twice this week i had a bad encounter with a teenager trying to bother my small children and it really makes my blood boil.First, i was in the park and noticed my son yelling at someone who was up a slide. I hadn't noticed before because i was with my youngest. So i walk up and ask him why hes yelling and at who. My son (6 years old), with tears in his eyes points up at some kid who looks 13-14ish on top of the slide and says "I was playing up there and this kid told me to leave. I said no and he pushed me down the slide and told me to not come back" I look up at this kid and he has a smirk on his face. I tell him (paraphrasing here since i was steaming and can't remember all i blurted out) "Hey, look at me, don't ever touch my son again do you understand? What the hell is wrong with you? Are you alone? Where are your parents? You're in the small kids section. Don't bother anyone here anymore, now get out of here" I see him get up from where he was crouching and walk to some old lady so i follow him. I asked her if that was her son and she says its her grandson so i tell her that he shoved my 6 year old down a slide and was threatening him so she just shook her head, muttered something in spanish and told him shed tell his parents. They left soon after and that was that.Second time i take my children to play by the shore. (We live near a river) And my son finds a small girl to play with him and theyre both screaming and laughing and throwing rocks into the water. About 30 mins in a group of teenagers show up to sit by the water. They look again, roughly 14-15. No big deal right? Little bit after i hear them narrating things my son is doing. I hear them go "dur about to throw more rocks because im stupid" "Its just water asshole. Stop screaming every time it touches you...fucking white kids" "Hope he fucking drowns" Its outside my sons hearing range and my son was having a blast so i didnt want to call attention to it to make my son uncomfortable. I call my husband over and tell him we need to move from where we were sitting and my husband grabs our stuff and we move further away. A little bit after i see those kids come down from the rocks and tear apart the little rock pool my son had made with his friend cackling like maniacs. I'm sorry i just can't fucking stand teenagers. I hate teenagers so badly. At what point in time do they go from happy healthy minded children to degenerate angry at life nasty pieces of work? My children go to a elementary/ middle school and whenever im picking up my kids its these teenagers hogging up the play area cursing up a storm, tossing their bottles once they're done drinking soda and littering everywhere. When i was a teenager i remember helping my mom when she babysat little kids. I remember being respectful and listening to music quietly, visiting friends houses or just keeping to myself. I never thought "must go out there and ruin someones day for the laughs" I'm just venting here. I pray my children become respectful healthy and happy teenagers... via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2sDOyye
