Where are all the children?

When I was growing up, I was outside all the time. We didn't want to be inside. We had video games, TV, and movies just like kids now. But, we also had bikes, dirt roads, unexplored streets, and so many adventures. Now, when I look outside, or go outside, there are no kids. They aren't riding their bikes or climbing trees, or throwing rocks. My son is 6. He's still young, I know, but I'm concerned for his future. He is an only child. We moved states in August. There are no children outside. I don't understand where all the children have gone.My son is on winter break (it's almost over, thank goodness) and he's been couped up in the apartment pretty much the whole time. I don't know what to do with him at this point. I'm his only playmate and it breaks my heart. I work and take care of the house, I don't always have the time, energy, or desire to play like a kid.My husband has tried to teach him to ride his bike without training wheels and he just has no desire. What is the point when there is no one else riding their bike? What do kids DO these days? How are parents not going crazy with them inside all the time? What can I do for my son so he doesn't end up a lonely hermit? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2CG4tnP
