My daughter's night time horror

A little background. My daughter is four. I have read her a variety of books (most recently the Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman which features a pretty awful monster and evil birds who can devour worlds), Coraline (wicked spider creature that wants to sew buttons into her eyes and eat her life) and a few other pretty advanced works. She watches some pretty intense movies (seriously, why did nobody tell me Toy Story 3 was so hardcore?).So the other night when she woke screaming in her room and could not be calmed until she was allowed to sleep in our bed for a bit I figured for sure that one of those things had gone overboard, but it turned out that my daughter was in fact afraid of something much darker and more terrifying. She had looked into the face of fear and had seen ...Mister Potato Head with his eye in his nose hole.Yeah, the Hunger Birds didn't scare her, but that potato putting his eye in the middle of his face terrified her. the next day she said, "His eye was in his nose hole and his nose was in his eye hole and that's not where they go and that was super scary!" via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2E8c1M7
