My daughter is turning 8 and I'd like to get her some "big girl" gifts that would make her feel little more distinguished and mature. Just looking for suggestions.

She's become a little self-conscious about kid stuff and baby stuff lately, and I want to let her know that we see her as a growing, responsible, capable kid. For Christmas we got her this really nice leather-bound journal (something that I might pick out for myself) and she loved it.
