My son is six and we read him various chapter books. He loves Magic Treehouse. We read him all the Little House books etc. He asked me what my favorite book was as a kid and it was Wrinkle in Time. He asked if I could read it to him and I had actually reread it recently and thought it would be okay. The vocabulary is a bit hard but I was reading it on my Kindle so I could always read definitons. Well, I misjudged and we got nearly through chapter 5 and he was sobbing. He said it was too sad (if familar with the story this is when they learn the Dark Thing is over earth). I said we didn’t have to finish the book now and could try reading it again when he is older. He said he liked it but the sad parts were too much. I feel so bad for making him upset with a book. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2A3m3vQ
