Toddler with feeding tube can’t have a bath?

I babysit a 2 year old, Tim. Tim was in a car accident and had to have a feeding tube while in the hospital. He doesn’t need it anymore but he still has the tube because they said it’s not ready to be removed. My issue here is with Tim’s mother. She doesn’t clean around the tube or the rest of her son. She’s says he can’t have a bath because of the feeding tube. She’s very defensive and always assumes people are trying to say she’s a bad parent, it’s hard to talk to her. Tim is filthy and smells, not just from the tube area, all of him is dirty especially his hair. The area around the tube is so crusty it comes off in chunks on his shirt.I could understand not being able to completely submerge the tube in the water but not cleaning it at all? Surly every kid with a feeding tube doesn’t have to be dirty all the time, right? I clean him the best I can with a damp cloth when I have him but he’s only with me three days a week.I tried looking up information on feeding tubes but most everything I can find is about kids with tubes because they cant eat normally. Tim can eat normal food now, he’s completely healed from the car accident except they haven’t taken the tube out yet. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2j1eDGm
