Daughter not on afternoon bus. Not sure what to do.

So my kindergartener takes the bus home. Today I was waiting for her to get home from school and when the bus pulled up, the bus driver shook his head and said she wasn't on the bus. As you can imagine, I was shocked and my voice rose several octaves. "What do you mean she's not on the bus?!" Thankfully I got a call from the school at that exact moment telling me she was at school in the office. I guess there was an announcement on the intercom that there would be a Girl Scouts meeting right after school and to report to the office. My daughter thought it meant her and so she didn't get on the bus.My initial reaction is thank God she's safe and nothing bad happened. She was at school the whole time and didn't seem upset by any of it. But after thinking about it, I'm getting a bit upset at the school for letting this happen in the first place. She's only in kindergarten and I know at the other elementary school in town they have a dismissal manager who makes sure the kids are where they need to be. If the parents don't send in a note otherwise, then kids automatically go home through their default method, even if they actually do have a meeting after school.I feel like I want to let them have a piece of my mind cause this shouldn't have happened. How could they have let a kindergartener wander off on her own without anyone stopping her or asking what she was doing? Am I overreacting? And if not, who should I talk to about this at the school? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2lP63f9
