A friend said I’m selfish... am I?My daughter will be 1 on March 1st and I was talking to a friend who asked me what I’d be getting for birthday gifts and I said maybe a book. She asked about Christmas and I said the same or maybe a small toy. I see no point in going crazy for Christmas / 1st birthdays when my daughter will literally be 10 months old @ Christmas. She isn’t going to remember it and she doesn’t NEED anything. The same with my 3 year old son, I might get him a few small things... but I have a wealthy extended family who always goes crazy and buys him a bunch of big toys, and he never really cares that I don’t, and doesn’t really ask me for much, he’s a very happy kid. I’d much rather take them on a vacation or share an experience than buy a bunch of toys that they’ll get bored with.Tl;dr am I crazy that I don’t go crazy for the holidays / birthdays for my kids? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2gZR2C0
