Toddler pooping in bath

My toddler has pooped in the bath tub the last 4 evenings in a row. He turned two this weekend. He enjoys baths and it is the start of his night time routine. Nothing has changed in the past couple days. We are gearing up to potty train. We have a plan to try the three day thing two weeks from now. He has a little potty that he has enjoyed sitting on and is pretty excited about. Each time he has pooped in the tub, my husband or I have immediately grabbed him out of the tub and sat him on the potty. It is really easy to tell when he's pooping normally, but when he is in the tub it's a surprise to us. My current thought is maybe we should take a break from baths and just do showers for the next few days. He enjoys showers too. We have told him that we don't poop in the tub and if he needs to go he needs to sit on the potty, but that's not working currently. Any advice or insights are greatly appreciated!
