To top off the bad past few weeks, my son defeated me with a Tonka truck last night.

I have a 17 year old with special needs. If you haven't been up with my posts, TLDR: I've been dealing with my ex, my son's sleep issues, my own sleep. But now, it's a Tonka truck. Don't underestimate your child's strength. For the past few months, son has occasionally been throwing toys and sippy cups over the door gate that blocks him from crawling into the kitchen. He'll do it for no actual reason, just out of impulse. Usually lighter weight objects like cups or small motor toys or sensory balls, because he is small and has mild atrophy.Kitchen is an odd shape. The doorway is past the fridge to the side, so you don't see the doorway until you are about to go into it. Last night, I was going to leave the kitchen, and a big firetruck comes hurdling toward my leg. My son had pitched a whole Tonka truck out over the gate, with this sudden new strength. It hurt like a motherfucker. I stumbled into the door gate and twisted my ankle. I could walk on it but it hurt worse everytime I stepped down. Within a few minutes it was all bruised up.I was able to dress him and get his stroller and carry him out to the car and my mom came home so we could go to the hospital. He doesn't understand fully what happened and he can't talk to communicate but he does know momma's in pain and he feels horrible, and he's been demanding snuggling off and on. I have a sprained ankle and am trying to stay off. So far I've taken at least two more hours of rest than usual, so technically a win?TLDR: My son's pitching skills gave me a very-needed but painful rest for a few weeks. He isn't named after athlete Mark McGwire for nothing. Thanks, ex-husband for insisting our child's middle name was McGwire. I'm going to just get my son a baseball, take him to NBA to pitch and see how much they'll buy him for!! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2usAubG
