Our second child is, to understate things somewhat, not the greatest sleeper. He's a nightmare to get to sleep and once he's asleep he sleeps really lightly. His sister is also a light sleeper so he can't sleep in her room or no one would sleep so he sleeps in a cot next to our bed until our lodgers move out and we have a spare room for him to move into in September. This evening we'd just managed to get him down to sleep after about an hour of trying and I was sat down on our bed reading a book when I realised I was about to sneeze. Not a little, delicate kind of sneeze but a full on monster of a sneeze.Panicking that I would wake him I frantically grabbed the duvet and pulled it up to bury my face in to stifle the sneeze. However, in my haste, I failed to assess the situation properly and recognise that it would be very difficult to pick up a duvet that I was still sat on. So I grabbed a fistful of duvet, pulled hard towards my face and, when the duvet failed to move toward my face, I simply punched myself in the eye.The pain caused me to swear loudly but was not enough to prevent the aforementioned Godzilla of sneezes. Needless to say piercing the silence with a blue-tinged scream and a sneeze that probably registered on a seismograph caused the baby to wake up quickly and angrily. My wife is currently trying to settle him down whilst I hold a bag of frozen peas to one eye socket and try to think of less embarrassing ways to explain my black eye in the business meeting I have first thing tomorrow.TL;DR Tried to prevent a baby-waking sneeze by burying my face in a duvet but inadvertently punched myself in the face and woke/terrified the baby. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2unUb5X
