Other sleep training methods?

My second son is 10 months and rather big (long and weight wise). He has been pulling himself up to standing in his crib since about five months. He seems on the cusp of walking. The past month getting him to go to sleep has become extremely difficult. Our first son was (and is) a cuddler so with first son we'd hold and cuddle to sleep until he got too big and then he'd lay in the crib and we'd lay near by.Second son has started arching his back and screaming when we are holding him to try and get him to fall asleep. So I put him in his crib and he immediately pulls himself up to standing and screams.Even though I am not a fan of cry it out I have tried this method because I am not sure what else to do. However, he refuses to stay laying down so it goes on and on.If I try laying him on our bed with me, he immediately starts trying to climb up the headboard etc.So our "method" has been to go between holding him and then the crib and back again, usually ending with me playing him music on my phone (he likes Sarah Mclaghlan) and rocking him until he finally falls asleep but him struggling the whole time until asleep. This can take an hour plus. And God forbid I put him in his crib too soon after he falls asleep and we have to start the whole process over. And suggestions would be nice. I wouldn't mind holding to sleep if it wasn't more like wrestling him to sleep with all the back arching etc. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2gUyUMm
