Need help with infant/small children party conversation. What are good things to compliment the parents on to pretend/show interest, and let them feel appreciated? I know how hard this stuff is, but need help wording it.

Don't get me wrong, I get it. We had them for our kid, and went over the top, but I looked at it as "we came to yours before we had kids, now you come to ours, and bring presents or diapers". My wife has challenged me to come up with things other than sports to talk about. I'm not the "ooh and ahh" type, so that would be too fake. But I know it helps when you've worked hard on something to feel appreciated. What can I compliment about the party that means the most? Or what can I ask? I genuinely give a shit, but want it to come off the right way. Any suggestions? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2sdyodN
