Those of you who haved moved long distance with kids... How did it go? We will potentially be moving from TX to the East coast. Kiddo will be starting 2nd grade so this means new school/kids/neighborhood. Also being farther from her dad although since he is in an hourly pay job, he's expressed willingness to move closer should this ever come up.We moved a lot when I was young but only 2 stand out as awful- a move from CA to NC which was not bad in itself but rather because it set off a *!$&storm of events that were traumatic. After all that, sort feeling normal agajn and we moved again at the end of my sophomore year in high school. So those 2 were rough. My child is 7, and she tends to be anxious. She will be worried about the 1st day of school even if we don't move.Just wondering how other kids handle it and what I can do to ease the transition. So far I just mentioned the possibility and asked her to tell me what she was worried about. She cried a little then asked if we would be taking our furniture, our car, her toys, etc. Once I assured her were, and she seemed to feel better.Part of me feels like I shouldn't move her anywhere, even if it means turning down a promotion (2 promotions, really). But I told myself that even a move across town could be almost as hard, since tight school zones means even moving 1 block can send kids to a different school. Also, I don't suppose kids are supposed to run the parents, haha. But I absolutely consider her view on this and want to make it as stress-free as possible beyond the things that can't be avoided.Tl;dr. How do kids handle moving long distance and what can I do to help my child along the way? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2tYqExX
