Managing growing pains and kids' insomnia?

If my 4yo wakes up anytime after 2am, for the bathroom, bad dreams, growing pains, it generally takes him 90-120 minutes to go back to sleep, and that's only if I wake up too and come lie down with him so he doesn't distract himself with books. Is there anything that I can do to help him go to sleep again more quickly? And a second question, his growing pains seem to come and go in spurts. We are starting a spurt right now, apparently. Is there anything parents have found that helps preventatively?Since surely someone will ask about sleep or eating habits, he generally sleeps from about 8pm-7am and doesn't nap. He eats a varied diet including lots of dairy and fruits/veggies, but no supplements. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2i2VhfM
