How to help a kid deal with embarrassment?

My 9 year old came home upset yesterday. I found out from my older son (11) that the 9 year old was upset because he cried in front of his friends and they were teasing him a little. My younger so said he didn't want to talk about it, so I didn't push.He woke up this morning and my older son asked him if he wanted to ride bikes. My younger son said that he wasn't going outside today because he didn't want to see his friends. Now, my son hates being cooped up in the house all day. I asked him if he was just going to sit inside and he told me that he might go out back and play basketball by himself, but he doesn't want to see his friends. He said he isn't mad at them, but he is upset that he cried in front of them. I tried talking to him about it, but he didn't want to. He just told me that I don't understand. He is normally a very confident kid (almost too much sometimes), so it is unusual for him to be this insecure about something.Do I just wait for it to pass? Anything I can do? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2hk3Nd4
