Does anyone else avoid activities their child enjoys because they get so upset when you stop?

So I introduced my 2 year old son to play dough, thinking it would be a fun thing for us to do together, and he could play on his own at the table when I had to prepare food or tidy the kitchen. He loved it, but now he asks for it constantly, pitches a fit when we put it away, and insists I play with him the entire time. If he doesn't get his way on this, he screams and collapses on the floor. I end up putting it all away unplayed with because of his behavior. He's the same way about most arts and crafts things, love them so much that he has screaming fits when it's time to clean up. This has led me to hide all of his paint, and only allow crayons or pencils in limited amounts. Is this just a toddler thing? Should I keep trying to play with it, or give it up for a while? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/29XlY30
