Perspective: My wife and I's wild night with our 3 year old

I posted here before about my daughter and our concerns about her speech delay. Click the link for a little context.https://www.reddit.com/r/Parenting/comments/aseo16/concerns_about_my_3_year_old_daughters_development/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2xSo yesterday, we finally got our 30 page packet with the findings of the evaluation. They were not good and confirmed our suspicions. In a nutshell, it says our daughter has mild to moderate autism with delays in several areas. It is even mentioned that our 3 year and 8 month old daughter is on par, communication wise, with a 14 month old.It felt like a punch in the gut, to say the least. I read through the first 3 or 4 pages and then tossed it aside to go find parking (i live in the Bronx and parking can be a BITCH). While i was looking for parking, i was so angry i had tears in my eyes. This hit me so hard because i was socially isolated as a child, and one of my biggest nightmares as a parent is for my daughter to go through the same and be labeled as the "weird kid". It just felt like a bad dream coming true and i felt like shit. After about half an hour to 45 minutes circling, i found a spot and walked home. When i got home, i could hear my daughter crying. She hates sleeping and i figured it was another of her tantrums to avoid bed time. As i walked into the bedroom though, i noticed she was crying a little differently. I saw her holding her arm and asked my wife if she fell and she said no. She fell asleep briefly through tears, but when i moved her to look at her arm, she woke up screaming. We rushed her to the ER, panicking as only new parents can. I felt sick to my stomach and my wife was in tears because she felt like she might have grabbed her too forcefully and broken her arm or something. Just imagining the 4 hour night in the ER we had in front of us in a Bronx hospital waiting to have a screaming child xrayed was scary and surreal. Not to mention that our usually built Ford Tough pre-schooler, who never cries even tho her legs are covered in bruises from all her park adventures, was screaming most of the night in pain. It fucking SUCKED.After about an hour and a half, we finally saw a nurse practitioner who was gonna order an xray for us. Before she did though, she grabbed my daughter's arm and moved it a little and folded it at the elbow. My daughter screamed through all this but after a few minutes, she was calm. She even started moving her arm and lifted herself onto the bed using that same arm. My wife and I were in a state of happy shock. She was fine. The nurse came in and explained she had something called a nursemaid dislocation. I remembered that the day before, she saw a kid swinging from monkey bars and wanted to try it so i lifted her and let her hold her own weight for like 3 seconds but she couldn't. Then, in the middle of her bed fighting tantrum, my wife might have been the last little bit of force that finished the slight dislocation of her forearm. They discharged us a few minutes later and we went home with a happy kid who was right back to her normal nutty self.Moral of the story, the autism diagnoses sucks, but it isn't something she cant overcome. The way we felt when we thought her limb was broken was worse than anything else. Autism isn't a terminal disease, it is just something that makes my kid a little different. She's still a very happy little girl. Obviously, i will now dive into that world because i have so much to learn. I never let myself consider the possibility so i never did much research about it. After the night we had last night though, i realize there are things a lot worse out there and i should stop being a cry-baby about this.We are fine, but most importantly she will be fine. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2JYjIM7
